Benalmádena combines coast, culture and nature in a series of very different experiences. Along the coast, there are opportunities for sunbathing, diving among the rocks and paddleboarding; you can enjoy espeto meals in beach bars. The seafront promenade has good accessibility. Some beaches offer people with reduced mobility ramps, amphibious vehicles, adapted showers, pergolas, walkways and sun loungers.

Culture

The Centro de la Historia de Benalmádena houses two exhibitions on the municipality’s historical and archaeological heritage. The exhibition “La villa de Benalroma” at the Centro de la Historia describes the finds from Benalmádena’s most significant Roman archaeological site.

The Museo de Arte Precolombino Felipe Orlando displays more than 700 pre-Columbian artefacts and around 120 pieces of local archaeology. With prior registration by telephone or electronically, it offers free guided tours for groups and school classes. Free audio guides in Spanish and English are available for adults and children.

Castillo El Bil-Bil hosts recurring cultural events every year, such as concerts, exhibitions and conferences. Its architecture combines Neo-Mudéjar and Neo-Arab architectural styles. El Paso is an annual theatrical portrayal of the Passion and death of Jesus Christ in Parque Rústico El Retamar, attracting thousands of people every year.

Nature and Trails

The Gran Senda de Málaga passes through Benalmádena on stages 33, from Mijas to Benalmádena, and 34, from Benalmádena to Alhaurín de la Torre. Benalmádena has around 45 kilometres of hiking trails that lead through particularly scenic natural areas of the municipality.

The Sendero Fluvial del Arroyo Pantano connects Avenida de Arroyo Hondo with Parque Albaytar. The easily accessible route, with a gentle gradient, follows the stream through a landscape with great botanical diversity. Monte Calamorro in the Sierra de Benalmádena offers panoramic views over the Costa del Sol. Parque de la Paloma is an expansive park with a lake.

The long stage connection, the stream path with its gentle gradient and the expansive park with a lake represent different ways to spend a day combining activity, landscape and quieter outdoor spaces.

When staying in a holiday apartment in Benalmádena, travel dates, room category and cancellation policies can be considered as separate details. These three criteria complement the previously mentioned themes of coast, culture and nature and provide a factual structure for personal travel planning.
