Marmolejo presents its spa history in several different forms. The Centro de Interpretación del Balneario de Marmolejo houses an exact reconstruction of the study and consultation room of the former spa doctor, with medical instruments from the late 19th century. The Casa del Médico houses this Centro de Interpretación del Balneario de Marmolejo; visitors can learn about the spa's heyday there. The Casa del Médico and its gardens are designated as a historic site and a Bien de Interés Cultural. The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Mayte Spínola has an eclectic collection of more than 250 works reflecting artistic trends from the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. A Renaissance bridge at the Balneario de Marmolejo over the Guadalquivir was built in the second half of the 16th century between 1550 and 1587; construction began in 1550 and ended in 1587.

Landscape and historical traces

The municipal Finca La Dehesilla is located in the northwest of the municipality of Marmolejo, covers 300 hectares and consists of typical Mediterranean woodland alternating with areas of dehesa. The Castillo de la Aragonesa lies on the border between Jaén and Córdoba in the Vega del Guadalquivir, near a junction of the Roman road running along the river. Its construction history includes a Muslim phase with a Berber fortification and a later Christian phase involving the construction of the keep.

Paths, water and night skies

The Cristóbal Relaño viewpoint can be reached from Marmolejo via the A-420 towards Córdoba and then via the JV-5001; the JV-5001 continues for another 7 km to the viewpoint. The La Centenera hiking trail begins at the Cristóbal Relaño viewpoint. For personal planning purposes, the seven kilometres of the onward drive and the hiking trail beginning there can be considered separately. The Sierra de Marmolejo forms part of a Starlight Reserve and is a Starlight Tourism Destination, offering opportunities for astronomical observation. The Finca Municipal de La Dehesilla is used for camping, hiking, zip-lining and canoeing. The Yeguas Reservoir offers fishing for largemouth bass, carp and boga.
