Valdezufre was founded in the 15th century along the connecting route between Aracena and Seville, which has since become the N-433 national road. Its present-day route as the N-433 keeps this connection visible in the region’s road network.

Santa Marina and its architectural history

The Ermita de Santa Marina is located about two kilometres from Valdezufre. It was built between the 14th and 15th centuries and has a main portal in the Gothic-Mudéjar style. Two different local connections are relevant for hiking interests. The Sendero Jabuguillo-Valdezufre-La Umbría runs between Jabuguillo, Valdezufre and La Umbría. The linear Sendero Aracena–Valdezufre connects Aracena with Valdezufre. The first trail therefore includes three local points of reference, while the second is designed as a linear connection between two places. This different spatial layout may play a role in planning a day out, without losing sight of Valdezufre’s village centre.
