Trails through the Natural Area

Access is located behind the car park next to the Cuesta Maneli information point at the foot of the dune; it can be reached via the A-494 at kilometre 39.

Culture and History

The Faro del Picacho, also known as Faro de Mazagón, has marked the entrance to the port of Huelva since it was commissioned in 1902. The approximately 20-metre-high, octagonal tower is attached to a residential building. Its beacon is still in operation, and cultural activities are regularly held in the building.

The Torre del Oro, also known as Torre del Loro, preserves the remains of a watchtower built during the reign of Philip II to monitor and defend the coast against North African piracy.
