La Antilla – Beach, Art and Maritime Tradition

La Antilla beach is 3,500 metres long, with golden sand and moderate waves. A small paved promenade lined with palm trees runs alongside the beach; wooden ramps extend to its middle. The length, waves, sand, promenade and ramps offer different points of reference for planning your day.

Paths and Natural Area

The Sendero Azul is a cycling and walking route that runs through public spaces and green areas along the entire built-up beach area of La Antilla. It is just over three kilometres long in total and connects with the Marismas de Nueva Umbría natural area.

After leaving the Parque de los Cabezos, the Sendero Costa Occidental de Huelva (PR-A 131) passes through an urban section of La Antilla. The Ruta Parque de los Cabezos ends next to the La Antilla roundabout.

Culture

The Museo al aire libre de La Antilla presents a tour through Spanish geography, featuring representations of monuments, historical heritage and history.

La Regaora is a replica of the sculpture group of the same name from Córdoba and stands in the Rincón de Córdoba on the sand, with the sea in the background.

Tradition

The Parroquia del Carmen is a relatively recent church building with three vaulted naves, dedicated to the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of sailors.

Fishing boats still lie on La Antilla beach, surrounded by nets and fishing equipment.

The Barriada de los Pescadores in La Antilla is closely connected to the sea and preserves its traditional character and deeply rooted customs.

During the celebration of the Virgen del Carmen in La Antilla’s Barriada de los Pescadores, the Virgin is taken out to sea in a boat after the morning mass.

In the afternoon, the procession of the Virgen del Carmen follows the shore along La Antilla beach and then returns to its chapel.
