Huétor Vega is home to the Iglesia de la Encarnación, a building of Mudéjar architecture. The church may have been built between 1552 and 1567; its nave is covered by a rectangular, octagonal roof structure with limas moamares, an almizate filled with an eight-loop pattern, and apeinazados faldones.

Culture

The Carmen de San Rafael is a 16th-century civil historic monument. The municipality converted it into a cultural centre, a public library and an exhibition hall. The grounds feature magnificent gardens and trees, as well as excellent views of the Vega.

The districts of Los Corteses, Los Peñones and Cuestecilla de los Pozuelos are characterised by Moorish-influenced architecture, winding streets and whitewashed houses with courtyards. Together with the Iglesia de la Encarnación and the Carmen de San Rafael, they show different facets of the town: religious architecture, a civil historic monument with public cultural functions, and traditional townscapes stand side by side.

The cultural features can be considered separately by looking at the architectural forms, the use of the Carmen de San Rafael and the design of the districts. In this way, historic individual buildings, a cultural centre with a library and exhibition hall, and streetscapes with courtyards represent different thematic focuses within Huétor Vega.

Paths and Landscape

The Puerta Verde de los Neveros is designated for hikers, cyclists and horse riders. It partly runs through the municipality of Huétor Vega and ends in the Sierra Nevada National Park.

The route therefore connects a designated course through the municipality with a named destination in the Sierra Nevada National Park. Its classification differs from the town's cultural attractions: here, the permitted means of travel and the spatial connection are the focus, while churches, districts and cultural sites are individual places to visit.

The two subject areas can therefore be compared in terms of activity and content. The Puerta Verde de los Neveros belongs to the paths and landscape category; the Mudéjar church, the Carmen de San Rafael and the Moorish-influenced districts form the cultural focus.
