El Castillejo is a protected archaeological zone and classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural; the site lies between Güevéjar and Nívar. It comprises a settlement area, a necropolis and a storage area. The three areas give the archaeological site a clearly distinguishable internal structure.

In Güevéjar, the Casa de la Cultura serves as a centre for activities, workshops, lectures and municipal events. The Sala de Exposiciones provides space for art exhibitions, photography exhibitions and presentations of local culture. History and Townscape

The rebuilt town centre emerged after two devastating earthquakes: one occurred in the mid-18th century and almost completely destroyed Güevéjar in 1755, while another in the last third of the 19th century, on 25 December 1884, brought further destruction to Güevéjar. The reconstruction followed 19th-century urban planning principles. Straight streets and perpendicular crossroads are arranged around the Plaza de la Constitución.

The Iglesia Parroquial de San Ildefonso y Santa Cristina was built in 1887. Its design is Neo-Gothic and historicist, featuring pointed arches, a rose window, pinnacles, buttresses and a stylised profile. Local history remains tangible here rather than abstract, appearing in the layout of the town centre and in the architectural details of the church.

Landscape and Trails

The Camino de las Alquiferías is one of the hiking routes from Güevéjar; it offers particularly beautiful views of the local landscape. The Ruta del Califato passes through Güevéjar.

Güevéjar's patron saint festivals take place in June in honour of the patron saint San Juan Bautista and in September in honour of the patron saint Virgen de las Angustias.
