Jimena de la Frontera was declared a Historic Complex on February 24, 2004. The Historic Complex of Jimena de la Frontera preserves narrow streets, small squares and irregular blocks of houses characteristic of urban planning during the Muslim era.
When choosing a holiday apartment in Jimena de la Frontera, travel dates, room category and cancellation conditions can be considered as separate details on booking websites. Depending on your own travel plans, a different field may be more important; the three details represent different aspects of the stay.

Culture
The Laja Alta rock shelter is located on the Altabacar estate in the municipality of Jimena de la Frontera and is considered one of the most representative rock shelters of southern rock art. Its paintings include anthropomorphic figures, depictions of animals, idols and boat scenes. The Church of La Misericordia was built around the 15th century, has now been fully restored and has been converted into a multipurpose hall for the local municipal administration. The castle complex rises above the ancient Roman city of Oba.
Nature and Paths
The Laja Alta path passes through stands of wild olive trees, carob trees and strawberry trees, and then through a cork oak forest. The path along the Río Hozgarganta runs parallel to the river and around Cerro de San Cristóbal. The final section of this path follows a paved route and passes through passages carved into the rock; nearby there is an area where the water is deeper and swimming is possible. For planning purposes, the two types of paths can be compared based on vegetation, the course of the river, surface conditions and rock passages.
Today, at the Canal de Artillería de Carlos III, you can enjoy the tranquillity and birds of Los Alcornocales Natural Park.
The cultural sites, rock art and castle complex have a different focus from the riverside and cork oak forest paths described above. This makes it possible to consider culture, nature observation and different path surfaces as separate aspects when choosing a destination.
