Nature

The spa park in Rimske Toplice has a network of walking paths, promenades, viewpoints and resting areas. It also includes two ponds, a wooded meadow and numerous avenues. The enormous giant sequoias, for which the spa park is known, are particularly striking. They were planted in honour of Queen Victoria of England. The avenues, meadow and ponds thus form a landscape in which the individual elements of the park are closely connected.

Hiking

Kopitnik is a popular 910-metre-high hiking destination, which hikers usually set out for from Rimske Toplice. Its rocky summit with views is part of the destination, as is the mountain hut of PD Rimske Toplice. Another named hiking route is the B3-Aškerčeva pot. History

Ruska steza is a 1,216-metre-long walking path. Russian prisoners of war created it in the final year of the First World War by extending the former Viktorija Promenade around the giant sequoias. At the beginning of Ruska steza, a memorial stone commemorates the prisoners of war who created the path. The path thus preserves both its historical origins and the memory of the people who worked on it.

Culture

The Kopališka Rotunda of the spa house in Rimske Toplice is designated as a local cultural monument. Its octagonal shape and Neoclassical façade give the building a clearly recognisable architectural character.

The poet Anton Aškerc spent his youth at the Aškerč Homestead. The estate is more than 500 years old, and guided tours of the literary and ethnological collection are offered there. Visitors can also taste homemade cheeses. Šmarjeta is home to a church whose main altar bears the year 1680. Written sources already mention it in 1545 as a branch church of the parish of Laško.

Wellness

Guests of Rimske Terme have access to a wellness complex, a medical centre, a thermal temple and a conference centre. In addition to the paths, parks and cultural sites, a clearly defined thermal offering is therefore also part of the character of Rimske Toplice.
