Church and Museum

The Roman Catholic Church of the Most Holy Trinity is at the heart of the village’s history. The present building was erected in 1875 on the site of a Gothic church dating from the 14th century. A historic stone tabernacle has been preserved in the church to this day. The building therefore points both to the older church and to a surviving piece of its furnishings.

The Spišská Teplica Municipal Museum has a permanent exhibition on the history of Spišská Teplica and its Cistercian heritage. The museum is open year-round to registered visitors. It provides space for creative workshops, lectures, exhibitions, discussion groups and seminars.

Calvary Site

Another site of cultural and historical interest is the Calvary site in the Cistercian style. It has 14 stations, including a chapel. Above the Calvary site, there are views of Spišská Teplica, the surrounding area and the peaks of the High Tatras. Protected Landscape

The Spišskoteplické slatiny area belongs to the Natura 2000 network. It covers approximately 24 hectares and is located in three different places within Spišská Teplica. The designated Spišskoteplické slatiny area is subject to the fourth level of protection. One of the most important protected habitats is a habitat of European importance with base-rich fens. The natural character of the village is therefore shaped not only by its extent, but also by its protection status and its distinctive habitat.

Circular Routes Through the Village

Along its route, the circular trail passes through Spišská Teplica as far as the agricultural cooperative; the ascent then begins. There are several refreshment options, benches and informative educational panels along the circular route. These elements stand alongside one another along the route described, making it recognizable as a clearly structured section of the area surrounding the village.

Another circular route from Poprad through the Lopušná Valley, via Spišská Teplica and Svit, and back to Poprad passes through Spišská Teplica.

Registration is required for a museum visit; in addition to the permanent exhibition, the programme also includes creative workshops, lectures, exhibitions, discussion groups and seminars. Along the circular route, refreshment options, benches and informative educational panels complement the trail.
