Čierna Nad Tisou: Holiday apartment between railway history and culture
Čierna nad Tisou is located in the southeastern part of the East Slovak Lowland. The cadastral area is flat. An internationally significant railway transshipment station between Ukraine and Slovakia is located in the cadastral area. At the Čierna nad Tisou–Chop border crossing, a standard gauge of 1,435 mm and a broad gauge of 1,520 mm meet.
History and culture
The history of the town is closely linked to railway transshipment. Čierna nad Tisou was founded in 1946 to support the exchange of goods between the USSR and Czechoslovakia through the construction of a railway transshipment station. During the first construction phase, a wooden railway station was built.
Another historical connection dates back to the summer of 1968: From 29 July to 1 August 1968, political negotiations took place in Čierna nad Tisou between Alexander Dubček, Leonid Brezhnev and other leading representatives of the Soviet and Czechoslovak party leaderships. A cultural building in Čierna nad Tisou played a historical role in negotiations between leading representatives of the Soviet Union and Czechoslovakia.
Archaeological traces
Settlement traces have been found in the cadastral area of Čierna nad Tisou. Also recorded there are a single bronze cuirass find from the Late Bronze Age, Hallstatt-period cremation graves and a burial site with horseman graves from the 9th and 10th centuries. The archaeological information therefore includes settlement traces, a single object from the Late Bronze Age, cremation graves from the Hallstatt period and a burial site with horseman graves. The chronological classification ranges from the Late Bronze Age through the Hallstatt period to the 9th century. The cuirass find is recorded as a single find, while the cremation graves and horseman graves are each mentioned with their own historical classification.

The coat of arms also refers to the railway: As a work-related motif, the coat of arms of Čierna nad Tisou features a locomotive wheel. The cultural and social calendar includes several cultural, social and sporting events that are organised in Čierna nad Tisou every year throughout the year.
