In the first half of the 19th century, Liptovský Trnovec was one of the cultural centres of the Liptov region and an important centre of the national revival. The foundations of amateur theatre were laid here in 1864; the first direct mention of a theatre performance dates from 1865.

The present-day Neoclassical Church of the Holy Spirit was built between 1810 and 1820 on the site of a medieval church dating from the early 14th century. The Evangelical Church of Liptovský Trnovec was built in 1925 on the site of a Tolerance Church dating from 1784.

The Evangelical Church contains a commemorative plaque from 1784 and an old altarpiece depicting the Last Supper from the late 18th century; both were transferred from the former Tolerance Church. The 17th-century stone pillory has chains with restraints on all four sides.
