Malacky lies in the centre of the southern part of the Záhorská nížina lowland. The Morava flows west of Malacky, while the Little Carpathians extend to the east. Malacky is served by railway line 110, with connections via Břeclav, Kúty and Bratislava, as well as via Marchegg and Devínska Nová Ves.

Culture and History
The Parish Church of the Most Holy Trinity was built in 1574–1580 in the Renaissance style as a single-nave building with a polygonal presbytery. Its pulpit dates from the second half of the 17th century.
The Chapel of the Holy Stairs was built, together with the monastery, on the orders of Pavol Pálffy. It contains 27 steps with relics of Saints Deterius, Valentinus and Beatrix.
The Franciscan Church of the Immaculate Conception in Malacky dates from 1653; its high altar dates from 1720. The crypts beneath the church are an outpost of the Múzeum Michala Tillnera, which takes part in the Noc múzeí event every May.
The Malacky Synagogue was built in the Moorish style. It retains richly decorated stucco, a Torah ark and a niche for storing Torah scrolls. It is accessible by guided tour by prior arrangement through the primary school of art.
The château in Malacky was built in 1624 and remodelled in the Neoclassical style in 1808. It is surrounded by an extensive English park with rare trees.
Events
The Historical Walks through Malacky take place irregularly, usually five or six times a year. Malacká hudobná jar is one of the recurring cultural events in Malacky.
Landscape
In the wider regional surroundings of Malacky are Pajštún and Plavecký hrad; both are considered castles. The Dračí hrádok site, considered a castle, and the Ebersdorfer Hof site, considered a ruin, are also located there.
