The local history museum “Demidov Centre” in Nizhniye Sergi presents its exhibits across seven thematic sections. They range from the everyday lives of workers and factory managers at the “Nizhneserginski Zavod” plant in the second half of the 19th century to crafts and trades, the region’s industrial development, and the construction and history of the “Nizhneserginski Metallurgicheski Zavod” plant. Other topics include the region’s history during the Russian Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. In this way, the history of the plants and everyday life meets the region’s wider historical upheavals.

The “Put Very” community museum at the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross offers a different focus. It displays old icons and church books, items found during the church’s restoration, as well as archival documents and photographs relating to the city’s spiritual and cultural heritage. The exhibition covers three periods in the history of Orthodoxy in Nizhniye Sergi. While the local history museum brings together economic, everyday life and regional history, “Put Very” focuses on religious heritage. The Sergi Valley and Nature Park

A section of the Sergi Valley in the “Olenyi Ruchyi” Nature Park runs from Nizhniye Sergi to Arakaevo. This section of the valley is a natural monument of regional significance. The nature park is also located near the Nizhniye Sergi resort; its hiking trails have a total length of 45 kilometres. The landscape offers a different focus from the museums: here, the valley and hiking trails take centre stage. The Resort and Regional Perspectives

The multidisciplinary “Nizhniye Sergi” sanatorium in Nizhniye Sergi operates year-round. Its local mineral water is described as containing sodium chloride and hydrogen sulphide; it is attributed with healing properties. This adds another local connection to the cultural and landscape themes. You can give the three areas of focus different levels of attention when planning, without following a fixed order for your stay.

Beyond Nizhniye Sergi, Sverdlovsk Oblast offers other distinct cultural and travel themes.
