The stanitsa of Suvorovskaya combines Suvorovskaya Spring No. 1 with a central park that includes sports and children’s playgrounds. This offers two distinct ways to experience the place: its natural thermal waters and a park created at the initiative of local residents.

Thermal waters and bathing treatments

People have long come to the stanitsa for the natural thermal waters of Suvorovskaya Spring No. 1. For bathing, three sessions a day, each lasting ten to fifteen minutes, are recommended over seven to ten days. The sessions should be spaced ten to fifteen minutes apart. This recommendation involves repeated treatments over several days, rather than a single short visit. If you would like to include bathing treatments in your travel plans, check in advance what visiting options are available.

A central park with a story of its own

The central park was created in September 2022 at the initiative of local residents. It includes sports and children’s playgrounds. This makes it clearly distinct from the thermal spring: the focus in the park is on the grounds and its designated play and sports areas. If you are travelling with children, the playgrounds are one practical factor to consider when choosing where to stay. The date it was created and the residents’ initiative also give the park a clearly defined recent history.

Kislovodsk offers other cultural and natural attractions. The Narzan Gallery is in the city centre, at the entrance to the spa park. The building is an architectural monument dating from the 19th century and a cultural heritage site of federal significance. Visitors can sample three types of Narzan there: regular, dolomite and sulphate Narzan. If the tasting is important to your plans, check in advance whether it is available.

The layout of Kislovodsk National Park also provides a useful point of reference: it consists of the Lower, Middle and Upper parks, with the Lower Park beginning in the city centre. Another natural feature is the Ring Rock, a rock on a spur of the Borgustan Range. Weathering and erosion created an opening through it measuring eight by ten metres. On the southern outskirts of Kislovodsk, Lermontov Rock is also located in the Olkhovka Gorge, near the settlement of Narzanny. Since 1961, it has been a natural monument of regional significance and one of the sites of the Mikhail Lermontov State Museum-Reserve.

Pyatigorsk offers a different focus. Mount Mashuk lies almost in the centre of the city. At its western foot, Mikhail Lermontov and Nikolai Martynov fought a duel in 1841. The history of the Lermontov monument is also rooted here: in 1889, Russia’s first monument to Lermontov was unveiled in Pyatigorsk. Together, these places invite different questions about the landscape and its history: Kislovodsk brings together parkland, architecture and striking rock formations, while Pyatigorsk centres on Mount Mashuk and the story of Lermontov.

When looking for a holiday apartment in Suvorovskaya, it helps to decide whether you want to focus on the place itself, with its thermal spring and central park. The examples mentioned in Kislovodsk and Pyatigorsk offer further points of interest in Stavropol Krai.
