Nikolo-Beryozovka brings together historic merchants’ houses, memorial sites and folklore. There is also the Nikolsky Church, a landscaped square with access to the pond, and a cycling and pedestrian path. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, you can plan your stay around your preferred interests: local history, cultural themes or outdoor activity.

Merchants’ houses and a historic street

The historic part of the town is home to merchants’ houses. Information boards in front of each property tell its history and display historical photographs. This means you encounter the town’s history not only in individual buildings, but also in the information and images associated with each house.

Bolshaya Kupecheskaya Street has a 300-year history. It begins at Nikolsky Church and a small pond; 26 cultural heritage sites can be seen from the street. This offers two interesting perspectives on the town’s history: the long history of the street itself and the larger number of sites visible from there. The street is therefore a destination in its own right, alongside the individual memorial sites.

A chapel, spring and square by the pond

In Victory Park, the “Elizavetina Kladez” chapel stands above a restored spring. It commemorates Saint Elizabeth the Venerable Martyr, who visited the village in 1910 and 1914. These two dates give the memorial site a specific historical connection, with Elizabeth and her visits to the village at its heart.

Next to Nikolsky Church is a landscaped square with access to the pond and a children’s playground. This place offers a different focus from the chapel: it brings together a connection to the church, access to the water and a play area. Along with the street and its merchants’ houses, it offers a range of different aspects of the town rather than a single historical focus.

Cycling and pedestrian path, and folklore

The cycling and pedestrian path, which opened in September 2023, ends at Nikolsky Church. The church is therefore a shared point of reference: Bolshaya Kupecheskaya Street begins there, and the path ends there. This connects the street’s history with another way to experience the town on foot or by bike, without specifying the path’s length or duration. If you plan to use it, check the current conditions before travelling.

Folklore is also one of the local cultural themes. The theatrical folklore festivals “Razvesyolaya Kolyada,” Maslenitsa and “Ivan Kupala” are associated with the Nikolsky Khram Historical and Cultural Centre. In addition, the interregional Russian culture folklore festival “Nikolay Chudotvorets – Beryozovsky” took place in Nikolo-Beryozovka on August 8, 2026. The centre’s programme lists this festival as part of the interregional folklore festival “Nikola Veshny.” Alongside street and memorial history, folklore themes are another option to consider when planning a trip.

The wider setting: Republic of Bashkortostan

Beyond Nikolo-Beryozovka, the wider destination of the Republic of Bashkortostan offers additional nature and culture themes. Toratau UNESCO Global Geopark is located in the Republic of Bashkortostan. It includes geological outcrops near Usolka and Dalny Tulkas, as well as caves, waterfalls, gorges, mountain rivers and rugged rock outcrops. The Shikhany mountains Toratau, Yuraktau and Kushtau are remnants of a barrier reef that formed around 280 to 300 million years ago.

The geopark also preserves the ruins of ancient settlements and fortresses and showcases local heritage, cuisine and crafts. Another regional nature destination is Bashkiriya National Park: established in 1986 to protect the natural resources of the Southern Urals, it was the first and only national park in Bashkortostan. The park is home to 231 bird species, including 148 breeding species; its waters are home to 32 fish species. These species counts may change as surveys are updated. Thus, the wider destination offers geological, cultural and nature themes alongside the local history of Nikolo-Beryozovka.
