Davlekanovo brings together literary history, distinctive architecture and the river landscape of the Demya. The writers’ house and cathedral mosque represent different historical themes, while squares and viewpoints shape the impression along the promenade. This lets you focus your stay more on the city’s history, the Demya or natural destinations in the wider area.

Literary and Architectural History in Davlekanovo

The house of the writer Akhiyar Khasanovich Khakimov was built in Davlekanovo in 1996. Khakimov, a People’s Writer of Bashkortostan, spent every summer there after it was built. The construction date and his recurring summer stays link the house to a specific period in the writer’s life.

The Davlekanovo Cathedral Mosque also tells of an earlier period. It was built in 1890 in the then-village of Itkulovo, which is now within the city limits of Davlekanovo. The mosque is single-storey with a pitched roof; its walls are made of white stone and faced with sandstone. Another historic memorial in the city is the monument to S. T. Aksakov.

The Demya Promenade

Along the Demya, Davlekanovo’s promenade includes various squares and viewpoints, a pontoon pier and an observation platform. The project was completed in 2023. Tourists come to the promenade to enjoy the scenic views. As facilities can change over time, check their current status before visiting.

The promenade offers a different focus from the historic buildings: here, the views of the surroundings and the design of the riverbank take centre stage. If you want to include both city history and landscape in your stay, you can take both into account when planning your trip without treating them as a single excursion destination.

Cultural Activities and Planning

The craft workshop at the Davlekanovo Museum of History and Local Lore offers clay-pipe modelling and painting classes. The pipes are modelled on a historic Davlekanovo pipe from the museum collection; advance booking is required for the classes. If you would like to include this activity in your plans, check in advance for an available date.

Another way to explore the city was included in the municipal route plan for 2018–2020: the bus tour “City of Davlekanovo: Between Past and Future.” It was planned to last four hours and cover 20 km. These details refer to the plans at the time and are not a current timetable. If the tour is important to your stay, check in advance whether it is being offered.

Your planned activities can guide your choice of a holiday apartment: city history, a museum class and time by the Demya offer different focuses. Also consider whether you want to include nearby destinations in your trip; check the relevant dates for classes requiring advance booking and for the bus tour.

Nature Nearby and in the Republic of Bashkortostan

Lake Asylykul lies 27 km northwest of Davlekanovo in the Asly-Kul Nature Park. It has been a hydrological natural monument since 1965, making it a distinct natural highlight near the destination.

The Toratau UNESCO Global Geopark is located in the wider destination of the Republic of Bashkortostan. It includes geological outcrops near Usolka and Dalny Tulkas, as well as caves, waterfalls, gorges, mountain rivers and rugged rock outcrops. The geopark also preserves the ruins of ancient settlements and fortresses and showcases the region’s cultural heritage, cuisine and crafts.

Bashkiriya National Park is also located in the Republic of Bashkortostan. It was established in 1986 to protect the unique natural resources of the Southern Urals and was the first and only national park in Bashkortostan. The park is home to 231 bird species, 148 of which breed there; its waters contain 32 fish species. These species counts may change as new surveys are conducted. These regional natural and cultural highlights complement Davlekanovo’s own attractions but are distinct areas of interest within the republic.
