Alexandrovsk between the Lytva and Babinov Tract

Alexandrovsk between the Lytva and Babinov Tract
On the western slope of the Middle Urals, Alexandrovsk lies on the Lytva River, which is part of the Kama River basin. The Babinov Tract (1595–1597), named after its pioneer Artemy Vavilov, runs through the town and continued from Solikamsk to Verkhoturye. Its riverside location and historic route give Alexandrovsk two distinct perspectives. If you are looking for a vacation rental in Alexandrovsk, you can consider whether the landscape, the history of the tract, or the local architecture is the main draw for your trip.
Church of the Transfiguration: Architecture and History
The Church of the Transfiguration and its enclosure are considered Alexandrovsk’s most significant architectural monument. The church and enclosure were built between 1812 and 1828. The stone building has two stories and is 11 meters high. Construction began in 1811, based on a design by Andrey Vyatkin, a student of an architect and a former serf of the Vsevolozhsky family. Vsevolod Andreyevich Vsevolozhsky financed the construction with his own funds. The building thus brings together specific architectural features and a history of design and financing.
The two local themes also differ in age: the Babinov Tract dates from 1595 to 1597, while construction of the church began in 1811, and the church and enclosure were built between 1812 and 1828. If historic architecture interests you, the Church of the Transfiguration offers a different way into the town’s history than the earlier route.
