Devitsa brings together a chapter of local history and a nearby landscape. A section of the Tatar Wall is located in the village, while the protected Prudy Devitski landscape area lies two kilometres to the east. This places a historical point of interest in Devitsa alongside a landscape of ponds and meadows in the surrounding area.

The Wall’s history and a viewpoint in Devitsa

A section of the Belgorod defensive line, the Tatar Wall, is located in Devitsa. Centuries-old pines can be seen near the Wall. When visiting this section of the Wall, the pines can serve as a visible landmark in the village; check the route in advance.

Another historical detail is the Devitsky Ostrog, which stood on the Usman earthwork dating from the 17th century.

A route description from 2021 mentions the year-round bus excursion route “Usman. Circular Tour,” which goes as far as Devitsa. For specific planning, it is advisable to check the route’s current status. A viewing platform at the watchtower is located by the Wall section. From there, you can enjoy a view of the city and the Voronezh Biosphere Reserve; check whether the platform is currently accessible before visiting.

Ponds and meadows nearby

Prudy Devitski lies two kilometres east of Devitsa, on the road towards Kruchenskaya Baygora. The protected landscape area includes an artificial pond on a small tributary of the Devitsa River, along with associated meadows. The water, open meadows and small tributary give the surrounding area a different character from the village’s historical attractions.

Fish farming and recreation are among the uses of Devitsky Pond and its wider surroundings, including fishing and spending time on the shore. This is a distinct landscape feature to consider when planning your trip.

When looking for a holiday rental, you can therefore consider what you want your trip to focus on: the history and viewpoint in the village, or the landscape area east of Devitsa.
