Vsevolozhsky District: Forest Trail, Park and Wooden Architecture
Accommodation in Vsevolozhsky District
Vsevolozhsky District can be explored through a wide range of themes: an ecological trail in the Toksovo landscape, the park at Priyutino Estate and the wooden architecture at Bogoslovka Estate. These places represent nature and culture, and can shape your stay in different ways. So, when looking for a holiday apartment, it helps to make an initial decision: would you like to focus on outdoor activities, or are you mainly interested in historic architecture and landscaped grounds? The destinations below offer concrete ideas for both interests.
Hiking, cycling and winter on the “Malinovaya Gora” Trail
The “Malinovaya Gora” Ecological Trail is 2.3 kilometres long. It is located within the city limits of Toksovo, south of Lake Kavgolovskoye and in the “Toksovskiy” Nature Park. The trail is designated for hiking, cycling and skiing. These different uses offer you a range of ways to include the route in a trip with active days outdoors.
The trail runs mostly through spruce forest and takes in the kame landscape in the southern part of the Karelian Isthmus. The habitats in this landscape include coniferous forests, raised and transitional bogs, and bodies of water. The trail description thus goes hand in hand with a varied natural setting: forests, bog landscapes and water are among the features you can expect when exploring this area.
One feature is noted for winter: enthusiasts prepare part of the trail as a cross-country ski track for the classic technique. This seasonal preparation depends on conditions and the voluntary efforts of those involved. The track therefore covers only part of the route. If you would like to include cross-country skiing in your plans, it is worth checking current conditions in advance.
Park design and wooden architecture at the estates
At Priyutino Estate, the main buildings are set in a park with a pond laid out in the English style. The Priyutino Museum is located on the estate. It belonged to Alexei Nikolayevich Olenin until 1841. The park and pond give the site a different character from the forest trail in Toksovo: here, the focus is on the design of the estate park and the history of its ownership.
The Bogoslovka Estate Museum is devoted to the wooden architecture of northwestern Russia from the 16th to the 18th century. The estate’s ethnographic ensemble was restored to its original form in 2004. It includes accurate replicas of historic buildings, including religious buildings, residential buildings, enclosures and fortifications. The focus is therefore on regional architecture and its presentation as an ensemble. Priyutino offers park design and estate history as its themes; Bogoslovka foregrounds historic wooden architecture and different types of buildings.
Choose the focus of your trip
These differences can help you plan when choosing a holiday apartment in the district. If you enjoy exploring on foot or by bicycle—or on skis, depending on winter conditions—the “Malinovaya Gora” Trail gives you a specific connection to nature to guide your search. If you are more interested in park design or architectural history, Priyutino and Bogoslovka offer different themes to consider when choosing your trip.
