Curonian Spit: Landscape and History

The “Tantsuyushchiy les” eco-trail offers a distinctive landscape: the coniferous forest is known for its oddly zigzagging, twisted tree trunks. The trail is at kilometre 37 of the spit, four kilometres north of the settlement of Rybachiy. The “Fringilla” eco-trail has different visitor arrangements, as it runs through the grounds of the field station of the Rybachiy Biological Station. From April to October, visits are possible only as part of a guided tour with at least ten people.

There are twelve stairway crossings to the Baltic Sea beach in the national park, each with a car park. The regional excursion options therefore have distinct features: educational trails, a visit subject to fixed group requirements, and beach access each offer a different focus. The national park visitor centre is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from May to September. From October to April, it is open five days a week, except Mondays and Tuesdays. Opening hours may change, so confirm your visit with the park before travelling.

Forests and Amber in Kaliningrad Oblast

Vishtynetskiy National Park was established on 1 April 2024 by Government Resolution No. 412, based on the eponymous nature park, and covers more than 27,600 hectares.
