Within the administrative area of Șura Mică, the Natura 2000 site ROSAC0093 Insulele Stepice Șura Mică–Slimnic covers 12.35 hectares.

The figure of 12.35 hectares expressly refers to the portion of the site located within the administrative area of Șura Mică. The protected area’s designation names Șura Mică and Slimnic together.

The Natura 2000 site ROSCI0093 Insulele Stepice Șura Mică–Slimnic contains sub-Pannonian steppes of habitat type 6240*. Pontic-Sarmatian steppes of habitat type 62C0* are also found in this site.

The Padinele peak lies in the wider regional surroundings of Șura Mică. The La Lăcuţ peak also lies in the wider regional surroundings of Șura Mică.
