Păltiniș lies in the heart of the Cindrel Mountains, surrounded by dense, fresh forests, spectacular mountain peaks and expansive pastures.

This landscape takes different forms along the trails: the Păltiniș circular route via Poiana Găujoara leads through spruce and coniferous forests. It offers views of the Făgăraș Mountains, the city of Sibiu and the Cindrel Mountains. Păltiniș includes open pastures and mountain peaks.

Nature and Trails

The Păltiniș circular route via Poiana Găujoara leads through spruce and coniferous forests and offers views of the Făgăraș Mountains, the city of Sibiu and the Cindrel Mountains.

Păltiniș offers numerous hiking trails, including a trail to the Bătrâna summit.

On the Primprejurul Păltinișului route, hikers can shorten the ascent to Vf. Oncești by taking the chairlift from the chairlift station in Păltiniș.

Along the Primprejurul Păltinișului route lies Poiana Oncești, which forms a true garden landscape of crocuses and snowdrops in spring.

Thus, both forest trails and paths to mountain peaks and open meadows form part of the landscape of Păltiniș. The Bătrâna summit, Vf. Oncești and Poiana Oncești are each connected to their own trail or route details. The spring blossoms in Poiana Oncești add a clearly defined seasonal feature to this trail landscape.

Winter

The marked Stațiunea Păltiniș – Poiana Găujoara – Șaua Bătrâna trail can also be used for ski touring in winter and is suitable for families with children and pets.

Păltiniș has ski slopes with low to medium difficulty levels, artificial snowmaking, night lighting and a snow park.

Culture and History

Păltiniș preserves Casa turiștilor from 1894, Casa medicilor from 1895 and Sala Monaco from 1898; all three are designated historical monuments.

The church of Schitul de la Păltiniș is built from fir wood and covered with shingles that imitate the style of old Transylvanian wooden churches.

The grave of the philosopher Constantin Noica lies immediately beside Schitul de la Păltiniș; he spent the last 13 years of his life in Păltiniș.

The historical traces are therefore spread across several different sites. The three buildings date from 1894, 1895 and 1898 and are jointly designated historical monuments. At Schitul de la Păltiniș, by contrast, the focus is on the construction: fir wood, a shingle roof and the imitation of the style of old Transylvanian wooden churches. The grave directly beside it commemorates Constantin Noica and his final 13 years of life in Păltiniș.
