Corcova was first mentioned in 1472 in a document issued by Radu cel Frumos. This date marks the first documentary mention of the village, not its founding year. Biserica „Sf. Voievozi” is an Orthodox church built in 1752 by Constantin Strâmbeanu on the site of an older church. It is dedicated to the Holy Voivodes and was repaired in 1889. These are distinct milestones: Corcova’s early written mention, the construction of the church, and its later repair. Winegrowing and the Bibescu Family

Grape Varieties, Climate, and Soils

The Podgoria Corcova wine region is in Mehedinți County, in Oltenia, and covers 55 hectares; the vineyard area may change over time. Traditional local grape varieties have been replanted in the wine region: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Fetească Neagră, Muscat Ottonel, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Syrah. These varieties are approved under the DOC Mehedinți-Corcova designation. The wine region is characterized by a temperate continental climate with Mediterranean influences, as well as mineral-rich soils typical of the Piemontul Motrului. Agricultural conditions can vary seasonally. A Sporting Event and Travel Planning

The Corcova Fest is an outdoor competition featuring five running routes and a mountain-bike route on the hills around Crama Corcova. The competition includes a 16-kilometre mountain-bike race. Running and mountain biking are therefore its two distinct sporting focuses.
