Discover Turia: Church, Mineral Springs and Peaks

In the center of Turia, on the right bank of the Turia stream, stands the ensemble of the Reformed Church. It comprises a church, an enclosing wall and a bell tower. The church dates from the 16th century and was rebuilt in the 19th century.

The three components form a cohesive church ensemble: In addition to the church building, the enclosing wall and the bell tower shape the appearance of the place. Its location in the center on the right bank of the Turia stream also describes its specific connection to the town.

Culture and History

Bálványos Fortress is one of the historical destinations in the vicinity of Turia. Archaeologists assume that it was built in the 11th or 12th century. Its ruins lie 10 km from the town of Turia on a rocky promontory with steep slopes.

Thus, both a historical time period and its present-day form as ruins are recorded for the fortress. The rocky promontory and steep slopes are part of the described location of the remains; the distance of 10 km refers to the town of Turia.

Mineral Springs and Baths

At Baia Fetelor Apor, mineral waters emerge at the surface within a limited area. The waters have different chemical compositions and various pH values. Baia Fetelor Apor is located in the Ciomad-Balvanyoș Natura 2000 protected area.

The spring is therefore characterized by a spatially limited emergence area and by differences in chemical composition and pH value. It is additionally assigned to the Ciomad-Balvanyoș Natura 2000 protected area.

From Balvanyos Resort, Baia Fetelor Apor can be reached on foot through the forest in just a few minutes. A ten-minute walk along a forest path leads to Băile Csiszár from the main road. Access begins at the car park by the Cetate (Vár) guesthouse.

Băile Csiszár has several cold pools of different sizes containing mineral water. The pools have different chemical compositions. Băile Csiszár also offers a dry mofette, hot-water bathing tubs and a sauna.

In addition to the cold pools, the facilities at Băile Csiszár therefore also include a dry mofette, hot bathing tubs and a sauna. The pools differ both in size and in the chemical composition of the mineral water.

Peaks in the Surrounding Area

The Turia V peak is located in the immediate vicinity of Turia. The Campul Capelei peak is also in the immediate vicinity. The Alungeni peak is likewise located in the immediate vicinity of Turia.

The Dealul Mare peak is located in the area surrounding Turia.

The peaks mentioned are thus assigned to two different spatial references: Turia V, Campul Capelei and Alungeni are considered to be in the immediate vicinity, while Dealul Mare is located in the area surrounding Turia.
