Muntele Băişorii – Ski Slopes, Mountain Trails and Church Culture

Winter

The Pârtia de schi Muntele Băișorii is 1,200 metres long and descends from an altitude of 1,500 metres at the start to 1,252 metres at the finish. The Buscat Ski Resort has six ski slopes. This means that winter sports in Muntele Băișorii focus both on a clearly measured descent and on a resort with several slopes. On a day of skiing, the length and altitude figures of a descent can be taken into account, as can the number of available ski slopes. Current opening hours should be checked before travelling for slope operations and lift services.

Slope 4 at the Buscat Ski Resort is a 150-metre-long beginner slope with a small baby lift. The chairlift at the Buscat Ski Resort has a capacity of 3,000 people per hour. The slope, baby lift and chairlift are among the resort's specifically named facilities.

Mountain Trails

Route 11MN04 connects Staţiunea Muntele Băișorii with Moara de Pădure and passes over Muntele Bocului and Muntele Filii. This route is recommended for mountain biking. Its connection between Staţiunea Muntele Băișorii and Moara de Pădure includes two named mountains along the route. Before a mountain bike ride, it is advisable to check the current trail conditions.

From Băișoara, a modernised road branches off from DJ 107M and runs 10 kilometres via Valea Ierta to the village of Muntele Băișorii, followed by another 2 kilometres to Muntele Buscat. The route thus names both the village and Muntele Buscat as successive destinations.

Church and Tradition

The parish of Muntele Băișorii is one of the oldest parishes in these mountain regions. Muntele Băișorii is also home to the Sfinţii Arhangheli Mihail şi Gavriil Church. It was built from fir wood with a stone foundation and a sheet-metal roof; the foundation stone was laid and construction took place from 1951 to 1960.

During the Christmas carolling period, the tradition of the Irozii existed in Muntele Băișorii. Young people in costume performed a religious play. The tradition combines the period of Christmas carolling with a performance by young people in costume. If you are travelling with an interest in this tradition, possible current event dates should be checked in advance.

The churches Biserica Săcel, Biserica Hăşdate, Biserica Filea de Sus and Biserica Finişel are located in the surroundings of Muntele Băișorii.
