Culture

The Muzeul Satului Mărișel displays traditional objects that are more than 150 years old. The exhibits include a loom from 1906. Visitors can also learn about hemp processing in the same museum.

The traditional costume of Mărișel includes cioareci woven from wool or hemp, a cămașă and a suman for men; for women, it includes zadie, poale, ie and suman. The traditional festival at Crucea Iancului takes place annually on the second Sunday in July. Crucea lui Avram Iancu is a historical monument in the Fântânele area of the Mărișel commune.

Nature

Țâcla Gavrii is a very high rock face. It rises above a large forested area. From the summit of Țâcla Gavrii, there are views of distant mountains. The scattered houses of Măguri Răcătău can also be seen.

Hiking Trails

The Circuitul Țâcla Gavrii loop trail is approximately four kilometres long. It has around 300 metres of positive elevation gain. The starting point is the Țâcla car park; the trail passes through a forested area and reaches the Țâcla Gavrii viewpoint.

The Rusești–Dâlboacă–Colții Șoimului–Rusești loop trail is approximately 12.5 kilometres long and has around 700 metres of elevation gain. It passes through a section of the Someșul Cald gorge, as well as over a plateau and a ridge with six viewpoints overlooking the Gilău Mountains. The loop trail begins in the hamlet of Rusești in the Mărișel commune.

The Fântânele–Gorge Entrance trail is marked with a red dot and takes approximately four hours. It has a low difficulty level. The Fântânele–Quarry trail is marked with a yellow dot, takes approximately one hour and also has a low difficulty level. The Fântânele–Iancului Cross trail is marked with a blue dot, takes approximately two hours and also has a low difficulty level.

Another loop trail is marked with a yellow dot. It begins in the area of the Mărișel church, passes through the forest and reaches Trei Pâraie. Three water mills and rest areas have been set up there; along the way, there are views of the Leșu Valley.

Further Experiences

The Mărișel Copcea ski resort has three ski slopes. The ski slopes have different levels of difficulty.

Dozens of school camps have so far been held at the Observator Astronomic Mărișel. Astronomy and radio astronomy courses for teachers have also taken place there.

Getting There

The DJ 107N roundabout is directly connected to the DJ 107P Gilău–Mărișel road and provides access to the DN 1 national road and the motorway junction at Gilău.
