Wellness and Exercise

With Băile Sărate Ocna Mureș, Ocna Mureș is a modern destination for wellness, treatment and relaxation. The town therefore offers a clearly defined focus for anyone who wants to place these three aspects at the centre of their stay.

Băile Sărate Ocna Mureș has free outdoor facilities. These include volleyball, table tennis and foot tennis courts, as well as specially designed areas for running. The outdoor areas therefore offer four specifically named options for exercise in the open air: volleyball, table tennis, foot tennis and running.

Each of the three sports has its own type of court, while running takes place in specially designed areas. This precise division makes the outdoor facilities visible as part of the modern destination without limiting wellness, treatment and relaxation to a single area.

Culture and History

The historic buildings of Ocna Mureș are also specifically connected with the district of Cisteiu de Mureș. In Cisteiu de Mureș, a district of Ocna Mureș, stands the wooden church “Sf. Arhangheli”, which dates from the 18th century.

In the same district, the Mikes Castle ensemble is listed as a ruin dating from the 18th to the 19th century. This designation preserves both the name of the castle and the chronological classification of the ensemble.

Mikes Castle in Cisteiu de Mureș dates from the 19th century. The Mikes Castle ensemble also includes the manor house in Cisteiu de Mureș, which dates from 1796.

Those interested in historic architecture and dated buildings will therefore find in Cisteiu de Mureș an 18th-century wooden church as well as Mikes Castle with its manor house. The classification of the ensemble as ruins and the dating of the manor house remain separate details within this historic heritage.

Nature

The protected Natura 2000 site “Confluența Mureș cu Arieș”, bearing the designation ROSAC0313, also extends across Ocna Mureș. The area comprises natural pasture and poplar habitats as well as aquatic ecosystems.

The natural pastures are part of the protected habitat, as are the poplar habitats. In addition, the aquatic ecosystems form a separate component of the Natura 2000 site, which also extends across Ocna Mureș.

These aquatic ecosystems are home to nine fish species of European importance. The number nine and the European importance of the fish species are expressly among the characteristics of this natural area.

The Natura 2000 site “Confluența Mureș cu Arieș” is also a significant refuge for aquatic fauna in Transylvania. The geographical reference to the Transylvanian region and the focus on aquatic fauna are part of this classification.
