Gryfino: Town Gates, Organs and the Oder Riverside

Church, Town Gate and Historic Traces

Construction of the late Romanesque-Gothic parish church Kościół p.w. Narodzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny began in 1278. Its organs, made by Barnim Grüneberg, have 30 stops, two manuals and a pedal. The church hosts choral concerts as well as the regular Gryfińskie Koncerty Organowe. Architecture and music thus offer different ways to experience Gryfino’s culture.

The Brama Bańska also tells the story of the town: it was built in the 14th century and is the only surviving one of Gryfino’s three former town gates. One section of the Mury obronne is particularly well preserved; it is about 70 metres long and 4 metres high. To explore the town’s tangible history, you can combine these structures with the Lapidarium in the municipal cemetery. It displays gravestones from a former German cemetery and other cemeteries in the municipality.

Another historic building is the Pałacyk pod Lwami, a villa dating from the late 19th century. Two stone lions at the entrance give the building a distinctive detail. Green Spaces, Views and Walking Trails

Park Miejski im. Stanisławy Siarkiewicz is in the centre of Gryfino and covers 6.02 hectares. Górka Miłości offers a different view of the surrounding area, with vistas over Gryfino and the Międzyodrze. Its revitalised network of paths includes a viewpoint, benches and other recreational facilities. Visitors can choose between a town park and a place with views and trails as different destinations during their stay.

If you would like to explore longer distances on foot, you can compare two marked hiking trails. The red Nadodrzański Trail passes through Stare Brynki, Gryfino, Dolna Odra and Nowe Czarnowo and covers 31.45 kilometres within the municipality. The green Woja Żelisława Trail runs through Żelisławiec, Wełtyń and Gryfino; 21.52 kilometres of it are within the municipality. Water Activities and Exercise

The leisure area at Aquapark Laguna includes a wave pool, an artificial wild river, a massage pool, whirlpools, waterslides and a children’s pool. Nabrzeże Miejskie, Gryfino’s recreational and tourist riverside area, is on the right bank of the Oder Wschodnia. A cycle path runs along its entire length. The riverside area is also connected to the harbours and marinas of the Zachodniopomorski Szlak Żeglarski. This route links West Pomerania’s tourist harbours along the Oder, the Szczecin Lagoon and the Baltic coast with German waterways.
