Discover Drawno: Fountains, Lake and History
Accommodation in Drawno
Drawno combines unusual water features with opportunities for active and culture-focused outings. The artesian wells are among the town’s attractions; the town lake is also known as Adamowo. A hiking loop by the lake, trails through the town and a canoe section classified as difficult give your stay a range of different focuses. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Drawno, you can make your choice based on whether you prefer hiking, paddling or exploring historic sites.
Artesian Wells and the Town Lake
The artesian wells are one of Drawno’s special attractions. They date from the 17th and 19th centuries, bringing two different historical periods into view. If you want to visit a particular well, confirm its location locally. This lets you combine the stop with other interests without making history the sole focus of your stay.
Drawno’s town lake is also known as Adamowo. The yellow P10 hiking trail forms an 8.2 km loop around the lake. This lets you combine a walk by the water with a set distance in a single outing. Check current trail conditions locally. Another hiking trail begins at the trail junction by the market square, follows ul. Pomorska towards Święciechów and shares part of its route there with the yellow P10. This gives you different route options: a loop around the lake and a route starting at the market square.
Hiking or Canoeing
Water sports equipment rental outlets are available in Drawno. Check in advance what is currently on offer. The Drawieński National Park landing stage and the PTTK water station are listed as launch points for canoe trips from Drawno. The PTTK water station is near the road bridge over the channel between Lakes Grażyna and Dubie.
The 8.7 km canoe section from Drawno to the “Barnimie” bivouac site is classified as difficult; river conditions can vary. So check the conditions locally before setting out. At 8.2 km on foot and 8.7 km by canoe, the route lengths are similar. However, the activities are quite different: the hiking loop goes around the town lake, while the canoe section leads to Barnimie and is classified as difficult. When planning, you can therefore consider not only the distance but also the type of outing.
Historic Sites in Drawno
Around the 10th century, Drawno’s original inhabitants built a fortified settlement on Zamkowy Hill. The ruins of Wedel Castle are also among the town’s historic remains. Buildings of the former “Etruria” terracotta factory have been preserved on Choszczeńska Street. Garden gnomes were manufactured there on an industrial scale—an unusual aspect of Drawno’s former production. The Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is another historic building in the town. These places offer different perspectives, from an early fortified settlement and castle ruins to industrial history.
When planning your trip, you can combine these highlights or focus on one of them: the loop around Adamowo, a canoe trip or the historic sites. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Drawno, this selection can help you choose your destination based on the outings you would like to take during your stay.
