Church history in Purda
A historic Gothic church dating from the 14th century was later remodelled. Inside is an altar dedicated to Saint Hubertus, featuring an extensive collection of trophies. This detail connects the building’s history with its distinctive furnishings and makes the church a tangible point of reference for the town’s cultural history. For travellers who want to learn about regional history as well as go on excursions, Purda offers a clear cultural focus.
Marked trails and different routes
The red-marked Trail II starts and ends in Purda and is 10 km long. The green-marked Trail 40 runs along forest and field paths. Known as Green II, it goes from Marcinkowo via Purda and back to Marcinkowo. The trails therefore differ in more than just their markings: the red trail starts and ends in Purda, while the green trail includes Purda on a route that returns to Marcinkowo. Check the local signage before setting out.
The distances and stated travel times also help when comparing the routes. Trail 40 (Green II) is listed as 22 km, with a stated travel time of 2 hours and 45 minutes. The blue-marked Trail 42 runs from Patryki via Purda to Giławy; it is 13.5 km long, with a stated travel time of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Trail 42 is therefore shorter and heads in a different direction from the route that returns to Marcinkowo. Check local trail conditions before setting out, too.
A kayak route as an alternative to travelling on land
If you would like to include a water route, the Kośna–Łyna kayak route runs from Łajs via Lake Kośno, the Kośna River, and several canals to Lake Silickie. Sights along the way include the historic Gothic church in Purda. This lets you combine a water excursion with a cultural point of interest in Purda. The sequence of lake, river, and canals gives this route a different character from the marked land trails.

Another cultural destination is the Gminna Biblioteka Publiczna (Municipal Public Library) in Purda, at Purda 12. It is open to readers on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Check the opening hours before travelling there.
