A land grant in 1374

On 26 January 1374, the Warmian Cathedral Chapter granted land to the Prussians Andrzej, Piotr and Kristan in the existing village settlement of Purden under Prussian law. Andrzej and Piotr received four free hides jointly; Kristan received five. The place name Purden is historically associated with Purdka. The date therefore marks a land grant, not the founding of the village: the settlement already existed. For travellers who enjoy learning about local history through named individuals and decisions, this offers a clearly defined glimpse of an event from the 14th century.
