There are different ways to discover Kaplityny: two cycling routes pass through the village, along with a short and a longer hiking trail. Kaplityny also has its own distinctive character as a themed village. Cycling routes through Warmia’s hilly landscape
The red cycling route is 23.4 km long and passes through Kaplityny. It runs from Barczewo via Rejczuchy, Sapuny, Bogdany, Kaplityny, Łęgajny, Biedowo and Dąbrówka Mała, returning to Barczewo. The route links several place names in a longer itinerary; for planning, the total distance of 23.4 km is a useful point of reference.
Along the way, the red cycling route passes through Warmia’s hilly landscape, with lakes, streams, canals and wetlands. The surface is also worth considering when choosing a route: more than half of it is on asphalt. Basic off-road cycling skills are required for the remaining sections. So if you choose this route, you can take both its length and the changing surfaces into account.
A second cycling route, marked in green, is 27 km long. It runs from Barczewo via Mokiny, Bogdany, Kaplityny, Łęgajny and Barczewko, then returns to Barczewo. The red and green routes therefore differ both in their itineraries and in their stated total lengths. If you are planning a cycling holiday, you can use these distances and place names as a guide without combining the routes into a single itinerary.
On foot: two hiking trails
The blue hiking trail is 5.7 km long and runs from Wójtowo Osiedle Leśne via Kaplityny, returning to the starting point. Along the way, it crosses the Kanał Elżbiety; the route then leads to a signal-controlled road crossing in Kaplityny. These waypoints give you a clearer idea of the route than the distance alone.
The black hiking trail is longer, at 10.0 km. Its circular route runs from Wójtowo via Kaplityny, Sapunki and Bogdany, returning to Wójtowo. The black trail briefly meets the blue hiking trail. On the shared section, both trails cross a bridge over the Kanał Elżbiety. You can therefore choose between the routes based on their different lengths and itineraries; the short shared section does not make them the same route throughout.
Kaplityny as a themed village
The village has an angel-themed identity: Kaplityny has a village angel square and an angel playground. The Wioska Sosnowych Aniołów, created by Krystyna Szter, includes the Anielski Plac zabaw dla dzieci. These names and places add a cultural and village-focused point of interest to the routes. If you are travelling with children, you can include this aspect of the village in your plans without making your stay solely about sporting activities.

When choosing a holiday rental in Kaplityny, it may help to first decide what you want to focus on: if you are interested in the longer cycling routes, you may prefer to plan around the red or green route. For hiking, you can choose between two trails of different lengths: the 5.7 km blue trail and the 10.0 km black trail. If you would also like to get to know the themed village, you can make that another focus of your stay. The routes and the village’s distinctive character thus give you concrete criteria for choosing your destination and planning your holiday days.
