Culture and History
South of Zajdy, in a forest beside the unpaved Gąski–Zajdy road, there is a protected cemetery from the First World War. It commemorates 47 Russian soldiers, 114 German soldiers and one civilian victim of the war. The cemetery can be reached via this road. For travellers interested in cultural history, this specific memorial site provides a clear point of reference.
Zajdy was established before 1557 on 60 włóka; a further six włóka were allocated to the village head. The settlement was also known by the name Sołtmany.
Zajdy is located in Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Olecko County and the Gmina of Olecko.
