Ryszard Kotys and the memory of his hometown
Ryszard Kotys grew up in Mniów and was known, among other things, for his role as Paździoch in the television series “Świat według Kiepskich.” A 20-metre-wide mural depicts his portrait. A municipal report from 2022 describes the unveiling of the mural. Also in 2022, a commemorative plaque was unveiled at the site of his former house and farmyard. It stands on a stone that once formed the foundation of his childhood home. Mniów thus brings together a large-scale portrait and a memorial site with a personal connection to the place; the plaque also points to the former family home.
Church art and sculptures
The Church of St. Stanislaus offers another art-historical highlight: its late Renaissance altar features an image of the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child. The side altars display Rococo depictions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child, Saint Tekla and Saint James. The church therefore brings together late Renaissance and Rococo motifs.
Large sculptures made using the besom technique stand on Gajowa Street and are known as the Leśna Galeria. These works offer a different focus from the church’s religious imagery: here, the distinctive production technique takes centre stage.
