Bells, Pipes and Local History
The Muzeum Dzwonów i Fajek displays historical artefacts relating to bell casting and pipe making. These crafts have made Przemyśl known both in Poland and abroad, and continue to do so. A visit therefore connects a specific site in the Old Town with a tradition that has significance beyond the city. The clock tower itself is late Baroque; the museum explores the history of these two distinctive crafts there.
The city’s history continues beneath the surface. The Podziemna Trasa Turystyczna passes through several cellars under Przemyśl’s town hall. The route leads via a historic sewer and a newly built underground passageway to the cellars at Rynek 9, home to the Muzeum Historii Miasta Przemyśla. It presents Renaissance-era Przemyśl through an interactive display. Your visit therefore offers not just a single exhibition venue, but a route through several historic spaces and connections. Within the same route, the contrast between the historic sewer and the newly built passageway brings older and newer underground connections together.
The Podziemna Trasa Turystyczna is also accessible to people with visual or hearing impairments. There are 16 tactile graphics and exhibits at ten stations. These specific features are part of the route, alongside its cellars and underground connections. If you plan to include the tour in your day, check the current visiting hours in advance.
Walking Trails and Fortifications
Przemyśl has three walking trails: the Śródmiejski Szlak Spacerowy im. Księcia Przemysława – Założyciela Miasta, the Zasański Szlak Spacerowy im. Orląt Przemyskich and the Kruhelski Szlak Spacerowy im. bł. Jana Balickiego. The Kruhelski Szlak Spacerowy also passes through part of Śródmieście. If you plan your walks around these trail names, this section of the route gives you a specific connection to the Śródmieście district.
Fort XVI “Zniesienie” is part of the inner ring of the Przemyśl Fortress. The hill of Zniesienie, which overlooks Przemyśl, is a distinctive feature of the local landscape.
