Rudniki combines an educational nature trail with the former Lipówka quarry, a geological and natural-history site in Rudniki, in the municipality of Rędziny. Anyone considering Rudniki as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.

Nature

The “Kopalnia przywrócona naturze” educational nature trail comprises 20 information boards at 13 themed stations. It is open to the public year-round free of charge; it also includes an audio guide with 16 recordings.

The Lipówka quarry was an open-pit mine for extracting Upper Jurassic limestone from the 19th century until 1989. After extraction ended, Lipówka developed into a mosaic of diverse terrestrial and aquatic habitats. It features limestone cliffs and lakes that formed in areas left behind by the former quarrying operations.

Visitors can walk and cycle at the Lipówka quarry; there is also a pump track nearby.

Activities

The Rudniki airfield is home year-round to a skydiving zone operated by the “Omega” Skydiving School, where tandem jumps and AFF skydiving courses are available. Rudniki airfield is located in Kościelec near Rudniki.

Around 150 people, including almost 100 competitors in the contests, took part on foot or by bicycle in various age categories in the 10th “Gminny Marszobieg Terenowy” municipal cross-country event at the Lipówka quarry in Rudniki.

The route of the 18th Family Cycling Race ran from the Lipówka Rudniki quarry through Kościelec, Madalin, Łochynia, Borowno, Nieznanice, Witkowice, Przybyłów, Kuchary, Cegielnia and Konin, and ended back at Lipówka.

Culture

The Rudniki lime kilns are shaft kilns built of brick, with a circular base and cylindrical chimneys.

The “Wapiennym Szlakiem” quest starts at Rudniki railway station. It is intended for children and young people, families with children, and adults. In the municipality of Rędziny, the quest presents the history of lime production as well as the landscape and natural features of the region. The stated walking time for the route is 1 hour and 20 minutes.
