Route descriptions from Sękocin-Las

An older route description says that the black-marked trail runs south from the bus station along the road and later farther into a forest with scattered holiday homes in the Magdalenka settlement. The route also lists intermediate destinations and distances: the church in Magdalenka is at 2.6 km, the national memorial at 4.0 km, and Magdalenka at 5.5 km. This makes it possible to distinguish the shorter stretch to the church from a longer continuation. Another older description calls the Sękociński Trail an easy walk for any season. It leads through pine forests and the summer-home development of Magdalenka. While the route description from the bus station gives distances and intermediate destinations, the Sękociński Trail highlights the forest and development. Since the route details come from older descriptions, check the route before setting out.

Forest education in Sękocin Stary

The Forest Education Centre organizes lessons for school-age children and young people. The program covers more than 15 topics. For trip planning, this is a separate focus alongside the described routes: the emphasis here is on educational activities and trails. The individual trails vary in topic and format, so you can consider in advance which subjects interest you most.

Educational trails and nature themes

The “Szlak Leśnych Gigantów” educational trail combines interactive elements with XXL models from nature. Its subjects include mammals, birds, insects, fungi, and plants. Another interactive educational trail at the centre is called “Na sosnowym szlaku”. The recreational and educational trail “Ruch w Świecie Zwierząt” offers another focus. “Pogromcy Leśnych Mitów” adds a virtual educational trail. These offer different approaches side by side: a trail with large models, interactive activities, a recreational and educational trail, and a virtual format.

One of the institute’s educational trails also features a plant collection with around 600 species and varieties. The collection complements the animal and fungi subjects of “Szlak Leśnych Gigantów” with a dedicated focus on plants. The centre also has an orangery and a campfire area. These places and facilities may be relevant when choosing topics for a stay, though they do not imply a specific itinerary for a visit.
