Archaeological Traces in Biskupice

Archaeological Site 1 is a settlement dating from the late La Tène period and the Roman Imperial period, with traces of the Trzciniec culture. An excavation covering 648 m² uncovered 173 features, including 31 smelting furnaces, 14 hearths, a well and two pit houses. These figures offer a concrete insight into the variety of traces identified there.

One of the two neighbouring pit houses served as an amber workshop. It contained 2.5 kg of small amber fragments and pieces of beads. Those interested in early settlements will find not only chronological context here, but also a vivid indication of craft activity.

Burial Mound and Religious Roadside Shrines

A burial mound in Biskupice serves as a communal grave for German and Russian soldiers who fell in the battle in October 1914. It is included in the municipal register of monuments. Its connection to the fallen and the battle places this memorial site in a specific historical context.

On Road 720, opposite house number 26, there is a wayside chapel with a cross and a memorial plaque. The steel cross is considered an example of artistic blacksmithing. Another religious roadside marker stands at the junction of Road 720 and the road to Koszajec (ul. Długa): a roadside statue of the Virgin Mary.

The statue depicts Mary standing on a globe, with her head slightly bowed and her hands outstretched; she wears a dress, cloak and veil. It stands on a clinker-brick pedestal, is protected by a glazed case and is surrounded by a wooden fence. River, Pilgrimage and Getting There

It was intended to run from the A2 viaduct to a side road towards Kotowice and MOP Brwinów, improving tourist access to the burial mound.
