At the Rynek in Bytom Odrzański, Renaissance townhouses, the town hall and a column fountain stand side by side. The square also includes the historic “Pod Złotym Lwem” building, which is dated to the late 16th century, the late 17th century and 1711.

Culture

The town hall occupies a historic position on the market square. An earlier town hall already existed in 1483, while the present building was erected between 1602 and 1609 on Gothic burgage plots.

The former Protestant church from 1741 to 1746 stands on Kościelna Street. Its tower was added in 1846, and a Renaissance portal has been preserved on the north wall. The adjacent cemetery contains gravestones from the 17th to the 19th century.

Water and History

Through the original gate of the former bridge, visitors reach a 140-metre-long wooden pier.

There was a historic river crossing by ferry on the Oder in Bytom Odrzański. It operated until the bridge was built in 1907, resumed after the bridge was destroyed in 1945 and continued operating into the 1990s.

Surroundings

In the wider regional surroundings of Bytom Odrzański, Głogów is home to the “zamek książęcy XII w.”, a ducal castle from the 12th century.
