Neusalz (Nowa Sól): Culture, the Oder and Active Days

In Neusalz (Nowa Sól), a stay can include walks in a large green space, cycling routes of varying lengths, culture and activities on the water. Green spaces, routes and exercise

Kacza Górka Park is a 14.5-hectare green space with a body of water, suitable for walks and relaxation. For cyclists, two routes differ in length and layout. The yellow Czarciego Kamienia cycling route is 65 kilometres long and starts and ends in Nowa Sól. The approximately 58-kilometre “Kolej na rower” cycling route comprises the Stypułów–Nowa Sól and Nowa Sól–Sławocin sections; a network of urban cycling routes connects them. This lets you compare a circular route starting and ending in the city with one made up of named sections. Most walking and cycling routes in Nowa Sól County pass through Nowa Sól, a city with a rich history and interesting architecture.

The sporting options also differ considerably. Nadodrzański Recreation Park is a place for active recreation. The rope park has several courses with different levels of difficulty—a useful guide if you want to choose activities based on the level of challenge you’re looking for. The BMX racing track in Nowa Sól is 360 metres long. The BMX skatepark also has a BMX track, considered one of the largest in Poland and compliant with Olympic standards. Wakeboarding is offered as a watersport activity at WakePark.

Museum, events and special discoveries

The City Museum displays the permanent exhibition “Wnętrza mieszczańskie”. Its education department organises museum lessons, workshops, educational trails and guided tours. It also works with local educational institutions and prepares annual competitions for children and school pupils. Alongside the exhibition, there is therefore an educational programme with specifically named activities and audiences.

Magazyn Solny is also part of the cultural scene, serving as a venue for cultural events and social initiatives. The City Museum’s “Noc Muzeów” traditionally takes place on Friday evenings; check the specific date when planning your visit. Soluś, described as the world’s largest dwarf and listed in the Guinness Book of Records, stands in Krasnala Park. This stop adds a very different kind of discovery to a museum visit.

Oder River cruises and getting around

Excursion boats dock at the port of Nowa Sól. From there, cruises on the Oder are possible along the Nowa Sól–Cigacice–Bytom Odrzański–Głogów network of tourist ports. If you’re planning a boat trip, check the specific departure dates in advance. The “Visit Nowa Sól” tourist information centre is at 2 Korzeniowskiego Street, near the port and the Oder.

The PKP Nowa Sól complex is also useful for finding your way when you arrive: it is in the city centre, right next to city buses and taxis.
