Oder Valley and woodland landscapes

Krosno Odrzańskie is described as the main centre of the Middle Oder Valley. The surrounding landscape includes meanders of the Oder and numerous former river channels. Forests cover 52 percent of the municipality’s area—a defining feature if you would like to include woodland trails and nature destinations in your stay.

In the eastern part of the municipality, Gryżyński Landscape Park covers 342.6 hectares. It protects the scenic features of the glacial valley of Gryżyński Potok. Also in the eastern part of the municipality, near Szklarka Radnicka, is the Rynna Gryżyny Natura 2000 site. The protected landscape and river floodplains therefore offer different highlights: when planning your trip, you can decide whether woodland and valley landscapes or the Oder should be your main nature theme.

Castle and historic landmarks

The Piast Castle in Krosno Odrzańskie stands on the site of the residence of Henry the Bearded from the early 13th century and is considered one of the valuable castles in Lubusz Voivodeship. The furnishings of St. Hedwig’s Church include several historic items: a Baroque organ case, a Neo-Gothic baptismal font, a painting from the early 20th century and a bell from 1710. Other furnishings and funerary monuments from the 16th to the 19th centuries are also found there. When choosing between nature and activity days, you can also take specific cultural and historical interests into account.

Noc Muzeów is a cultural event in Krosno Odrzańskie; Festiwal Jadwigensis is one of the city’s major cultural events. For a stay focused on culture, the castle and church also offer distinct historical points of interest.

Routes on water and land

A 60-kilometre kayaking route on the Oder runs from Nietkowice via Radnica, Krosno Odrzańskie, Osiecznica and Połęcko to Szydłowo. Krosno Odrzańskie also has a landing stage in the river harbour for water tourists. At Lake Glibiel in Łochowice, there is a municipal bathing area, a popular recreational spot also used by people from outside the municipality.

There are circular walking routes of different lengths to choose from. The black forest trail, the PTTK Szlak Leśny, is 33.5 kilometres long and runs from Krosno Odrzańskie via Bielów, Czetowice, Budachów, Bytnica, Struga and Łochowice before returning. The red Szlak Przeszłości is a shorter 15.4-kilometre loop: it passes through Bielów, Lake Gnilec, Lake Glibiel, Łochowice and Kamień before returning to the city. The route lengths and itineraries give you a concrete basis for choosing excursions according to the distance you want to cover.

Cycling and Nordic walking routes offer their own highlights. The 65-kilometre cycling route runs from Krosno Odrzańskie via Bytnica, Gryżyna, Grabin and Radnica before returning. A red Nordic walking route connects the city with the Piast Castle, Marcinowice and Osiecznica over 14 kilometres, then returns to the city. The Nadodrzański Trail runs through Połupin, Ciemnice, Laski Odrzańskie, Nietków and Czerwieńsk; it is designated as a walking, nature and cycling trail.
