The red and blue cycling routes are both 24.9 kilometres long and return to Wisznice. They pass through different places: the red route goes via Dubica and Polubicze, then Dubica again. The blue route goes via Wygoda, Horodyszcze, Łyniew and Dołholiska. At the same length, the places listed offer a concrete basis for comparing the two routes when choosing between them.
At 18.2 kilometres, the green cycling route is shorter. From Wisznice, it goes via Curyn, Rowiny, Curyn again and Zacisze to Wisznice Kolonia. Check the local signs before setting out. Cemetery, family history and architecture
The historic cemetery in Wisznice was established around 1800 for the Uniate and Catholic parishes. It is regarded as a unique sacred structure of high artistic value. It is also associated with specific members of the family of writer Józef Ignacy Kraszewski: his grandparents Anna and Błażej Malscy, his mother Zofia z Malskich Kraszewska, and his brothers Lucjan and Kajetan Kraszewscy are buried here. The religious history of the place and the writer’s family history are thus among the cemetery’s distinct aspects.
The history of a chapel is also part of this site. A wooden chapel once stood in the cemetery. In the mid-19th century, it was to be replaced by a brick building, but construction was never completed. The contrast between the wooden chapel and the planned but unfinished replacement adds a tangible architectural dimension to the history of the place.
A former church as a cultural centre
Another part of the local history is the former Greek Catholic church in Wisznice. It was renovated in 2009–2010 and converted into the Christian Cultural Centre. Alongside the older traces preserved at the cemetery, there is therefore also a documented transformation of a former church building.
