Zembrzyce combines marked hiking trails with buildings and places of remembrance that bring different chapters of the area’s history to life. Hiking destinations in two directions

The red-marked hiking trail leads west from Zembrzyce through the Beskid Mały. Via Gołuszkowa Góra (715 m), Żurawnica (726 m) and the village of Krzeszów, it reaches the summit of Jaworzyna, also known as Groń Jana Pawła II (890 m), and the PTTK mountain hut on Leskowiec (922 m). Heading east, you can travel via the Chełm ridge (603 m) and Babica (727 m) to Myślenice.

The two directions differ in their named ridges and destinations: to the west, the route takes in summits and a mountain hut; to the east, it follows a ridge and mountain to Myślenice. Church, monument and traces of history

The Neo-Gothic Church of St John the Baptist stands out in the local landscape for its brick construction and three-aisled layout. It was built between 1911 and 1913. The term “three-aisled” describes the division of the church interior into three aisles; together with its Neo-Gothic style, this sets it apart architecturally from the smaller historic memorial sites in the village.

In the centre stands a monument to those who fell in the First World War, erected in 1925 and funded by local residents. Reliefs, including depictions of Cyril and Methodius, are set into a stone plinth. They are believed to date from the late 12th or early 13th century. The plinth also bears a figure of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The different motifs make this a point of reference for religious and historical themes, even though they do not all necessarily date from the same period.

The manor house is in the northern part of Zembrzyce. The Neoclassical building is made of rendered brick and is listed in the register of monuments. Grodzisko is northwest of the centre. Its fortifications were probably built between the 13th and 16th centuries on the site of an earlier settlement belonging to the Lusatian culture. The manor house and Grodzisko thus offer different ways to explore the area’s history: one is a Neoclassical building, the other a fortification with a settlement history stretching further back.

Discover the Centrum Rekreacji i Wypoczynku

The tourist information office is located at the Centrum Rekreacji i Wypoczynku in Zembrzyce. Inside the centre, the local heritage room displays items from the everyday lives of former residents of the municipality; the oldest exhibits date from the 19th century. This offers a distinct historical perspective: rather than viewing architecture from the outside, you can explore objects from everyday life.

The Centrum Rekreacji i Wypoczynku by the Paleczka stream also has a saltwater tower and a running track. The saltwater tower is open daily from 11:00 to 18:00, from 15 April to 15 October. The running track is open from 8:00 to 22:00 from May to September, and from 8:00 to 20:00 during the rest of the year. Opening times may change, so check the details before your visit.
