Limanowa can be explored through a variety of places: a regional museum in a historic manor house, a sanctuary in the market square, a stone chapel and a monumental cross on Miejska Góra. There is also a circular cycling route and a hiking trail starting in the town. This combination makes it easier to plan your holiday: you can focus on cultural sites or consider Limanowa as a starting point for days of cycling and hiking. When looking for a holiday apartment, it helps to decide on these priorities first.

Cultural sites in the town park and centre

The Muzeum Regionalne Ziemi Limanowskiej is located in Limanowa’s town park, in a historic Old Polish manor house also known as Dwór Marsów. Dwór Marsów refers to the manor house, not to the museum as a whole. In the centre of Limanowa, the Sanktuarium pw. Matki Boskiej Bolesnej stands on Rynek Miejski. The market square was renovated in 2020. The museum in the park and the sanctuary in the market square are two distinct cultural landmarks in different parts of the town.

Kaplica Łaski adds another site with its own architectural history: the stone chapel was built around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Monuments and an annual tradition

Jubileuszowy Krzyż stands on Miejska Góra (782 m). The 37-metre-high monument commemorates 2,000 years of Christianity. Religious tradition also includes an annual procession: on the first Sunday after 22 September, it runs from the basilica to Kaplica Łaski along ulica Matki Bożej Bolesnej. Alongside the individual buildings, there is therefore a recurring event and a specific route. If you would like to plan your trip around it, check the date in advance.

Cycling route, hiking trail and practice area

An approximately 25 km circular cycling route starts and ends in Limanowa. It passes through Jabłoniec, Stara Wieś-Majeż, Golców, Księży Las (Opalona), Pożary and Leśniówka-Lipowe. The hiking trail takes a different form: it starts at Dwór Marsów and leads to Jabłoniec (642 m). This gives you a choice between two different kinds of outing—a circular route with several named stops or a hiking trail to a named destination.

Cycling is also the focus of Miasteczko Ruchu Drogowego. Its paved roadways and cycle paths cover a total of 1,191 m². The facility was intended as a practice area where children and young people could learn to use public roads safely through playful interaction with traffic infrastructure. This educational concept differs from the circular cycling route: here, the focus is on practising with traffic infrastructure, while the route passes through several named places.

Find a holiday apartment to suit your travel plans

Your preferred daily schedule is a useful starting point when choosing a holiday apartment in Limanowa: cultural sites, the circular cycling route and the hiking trail each offer a different focus. If you want to combine several interests, the type of outing can also inform your plans: the cycling route returns to Limanowa, while the hiking trail leads to Jabłoniec.
