Velo SKAwina is a route of more than 11 kilometres. It starts in the city of Skawina, runs to Jaśkowice and connects to the Wiślana Trasa Rowerowa. Its paved surface and connection to this cycling route make it an option for recreational cycling. Walking and other leisure activities are also possible along the route.
The paved loop in Skawińskie Błonia is shorter: it is 800 metres long and suitable for running, inline skating, riding a scooter and cycling. They differ not only in length, but also in the fact that several types of activity are mentioned for the loop. Another historic site is the former Hospital Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was founded in 1471 by Maciej Skawinka, abbot of the Benedictines of Tyniec. The former Hospital Church houses the 16th-century Renaissance painting “Crucifixion”. A Jewish synagogue dating from the early 20th century has also been preserved in Skawina.
Pałacyk “Sokół” and concerts
Pałacyk “Sokół” was built between 1904 and 1906 on the site of a fortified castle. The castle had probably been built by Kazimierz Wielki or shortly after his death; this uncertainty is part of the historical account. Today, Pałacyk can be reached by city bus routes 203, 223, 233, 235, S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5 to the Skawina Szkoła stop on ul. Mickiewicza. Monthly concerts titled “Muzyczne Poniedziałki” (“Musical Mondays”) are held at Pałacyk. The venue thus brings together architectural history and a recurring concert series.
