Church History and Architecture
The first documented references to a wooden church in Radziszów date back to 1325. Construction of the new brick church was completed in 1847. Inside the church, an oil painting from 1769 occupies the central place at the altar; it depicts Saint Lawrence. The stone baptismal font is also among the older furnishings: it dates from the 17th century and probably remained in its original place during the fire of 1844.
The church can be visited daily before or after Mass. The right time therefore depends on the service; contact the parish for current Mass times. It is worth taking this into account when planning your day, especially if the church is an essential part of your visit.
Another building with a history of its own is the Dzieduszycki Manor House. Built in the 19th century as a foundation of the Dzieduszycki family, the manor was constructed with the family’s funds. Its late Neoclassical design is by Kraków architect and Jesuit Sebastian Alojzy Sierakowski. For those interested in architecture, it offers a different style from the church and another connection to the history of the Dzieduszycki family.
The centre of the rural settlement is also home to a tall, two-storey wayside shrine chapel dating from 1861. It adds another clearly dated landmark to Radziszów’s historic buildings.
Hill and Bronaczowa Forest
The Malowniczy Radziszów trail leads to Wytrzyszczek Hill. In clear weather, you can see Kalwaria Zebrzydowska from there, among other places. The view is therefore subject to one condition: clear weather is needed for long-distance visibility. This makes the hill a nature destination in its own right, alongside the historic buildings, without promising a particular view on every visit.
The forest ponds in Bronaczowa Forest are located near Radziszów. Kingfishers are often spotted there, although sightings are not guaranteed. A recommended hike through the forest takes you past oaks, beeches and firs that are more than 100 years old. The Kozie Kąty nature reserve was established in the northeastern part of Bronaczowa Forest in March 1989; it covers 26.52 ha.
These nature spots offer different experiences: in clear weather, Wytrzyszczek is all about the view, while the hike through Bronaczowa Forest leads among old trees.
