Lipno is the birthplace of the internationally renowned silent-film actress Barbara Apolonia Chalupiec, known as Pola Negri. The “Pola i inni” film festival has been held in Lipno since 2007. During the festival, the “Nawojka” cinema, now housed in a former Orthodox church, shows films featuring Pola Negri, including silent films with live piano accompaniment; the church later served as a community center.
