Discover Śrem: Cycling routes, nature and culture
Accommodation in Śrem
Śrem and Śrem County offer a varied combination of river landscapes, lakes, forests and regional history. A dense network of cycling routes explores a range of themes: some lead to places associated with notable figures, while others pass through forests, follow a chain of lakes or cross landscapes shaped by the Ice Age. When looking for a holiday apartment, your choice may therefore depend on which experiences you would like to make the focus of your stay.

Cycling routes between history and landscape
The “Śladami Józefa Wybickiego” cycling route connects places associated with the life of General Józef Wybicki and runs through Śrem County. The “Księdza Piotra Wawrzyniaka” cycling route also passes through the county, leading to places associated with the notable figure Piotr Wawrzyniak. Those interested in regional history will find two distinct thematic approaches here. Their names and points of interest make the historical focus of the routes clear, without giving them the same emphasis.
Specific details about length and route surface provide further guidance: the “Polnymi drogami” cycling route is 19.7 kilometres long and runs mainly along paved roads and field tracks. The 28.6-kilometre “Dziesięciu Jezior” cycling route follows a chain of lakes west of Dolsk.
Warta floodplains, forests and protected areas
From Jaszkowo, the “Konwaliowy” cycling route runs exclusively through forests in the Rogaliński Landscape Park and leads to the “Krajkowo” reserve. The protected areas there include floodplain landscapes and oxbow lakes of the Warta, wet meadows, ash-elm floodplain forest and fresh mixed forest. The birdlife is also characteristic of the reserve: around 120 bird species have been recorded there. Those particularly interested in forests and floodplains can make this route and the protected area their own thematic focus.
The “Dziesięciu Jezior” cycling route also passes the Miranowo reserve, which protects meadow and reed vegetation, and continues to Cichowo. There, you can see reconstructed wooden buildings from Soplicowo, originating from the filming location of Andrzej Wajda’s film “Pan Tadeusz”. This means the cycling route links the chain of lakes west of Dolsk with nature and culture along the same described route.
A different landscape characterises the “Pagórki Dolskie” cycling route: it passes through an area shaped by glacial landforms, with terminal moraine hills and an especially large concentration of erratic boulders in this part of Greater Poland. The “Łęgi Nadwarciańskie” cycling route, by contrast, focuses on the Warta’s banks, characterised by floodplain forest, the lake landscape of the Kórnik–Zaniemyśl Channel and groups of old oaks. These oaks are considered particularly impressive in Greater Poland. Parks, forests, lakes, Warta floodplains and natural monuments complete the county’s varied landscape.
You can also explore the region on foot: several signposted hiking trails run through Śrem County and its immediate surroundings. The “Promenada nad Wartą” in Śrem is a walking and cycling path along the Warta. So, alongside longer cycling routes, the regional offering also includes a riverside route for walks and bike rides.
City history and regional culture
The Muzeum Śremskie collects exhibits relating to the history of the city of Śrem and the region. In Błociszewo stands Kęszycki Palace, a neo-Rococo palace dating from 1893, surrounded by an 18th-century landscaped park. The two sites offer different points of interest: the museum focuses on city and regional history, while the palace and its historic park combine architecture and gardens.
In Śrem County, recreation by the water is considered a particular aspect of stay tourism, making use of existing accommodation, dining and supporting infrastructure. Together with cycling and hiking routes and cultural attractions, this offers visitors a range of interests to explore during their stay.
You can also discover other places in the region: Śrem, Dolsk, Księginki and Jaszkowo.
