Culture and History
In the western part of Zawidowice, there has been a brick chapel beside the road since 1945, in the form of a square pillar with a hipped roof and metal cross. The chapel has a plaque bearing the inscription “Ave Maria”, a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a reproduction of the image of the Divine Mercy.
The historic manor estate complex in Zawidowice comprises a main courtyard, the remains of a smaller eastern farmyard and a settlement of former manor workers’ houses located along the main access road. The complex also includes preserved sections of the brick wall with gates, the ruins of a granary barn built in the 19th century and destroyed by fire in 1976, as well as the former manager’s house.
Nature
In the vicinity of Zawidowice are the Glinianki, a nature refuge with one large pond and several smaller ponds in an abandoned clay-mining area. The shallow ponds have species-rich waterside and aquatic vegetation and provide a habitat for around 300 fire-bellied toads, several hundred large white-faced darters, other dragonfly species and the large copper butterfly.
Trails and Activities
At kilometre 6.1, the yellow hiking trail crosses the asphalt road from Brzezie to Zawidowice. The trail leads through fields, then through a small forest and down through the densely wooded, ravine-like Ner river valley. The yellow Pleszew–Lenartowice–Tursko hiking trail is 14.0 kilometres long.
The “Stara Stajnia” equestrian centre in Zawidowice runs a riding school for beginners and advanced riders and offers specialised show-jumping training. “Stara Stajnia” also offers guided rides. A Nordic walking competition was held annually on the grounds of “Stara Stajnia” and in the forests of Zawidowice.
Food and Dining
The “Stara Stajnia” restaurant in Zawidowice serves home-style cooking and drinks, including refreshing beer. “Stara Stajnia” offers catering and invites guests to hold private celebrations in its own premises.
